Handmade leather khussas decorated with gold thread, these beautiful shoes bring a touch of glamour to every occasion.

Born on the Silk Roads, travelling in all likelihood from China to India, the khussa was originally popular in rural areas and known for its comfort and the way it adapted itself to the shape of the foot. By the 17th century one could it in artistic portrayals of the Mughal court and later in representations of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, from whose heirs the Kohinoor diamond was seized by the British. The most coveted khussas are produced in Lahore, a cultural capital of the erstwhile Mughal court, from where we get ours.

The leather sole means these can be worn outdoors as a summer sandal, although to keep your shoes beautiful for longer, we recommend wearing them indoors, on terraces and in gardens, just as Mughal royalty would have done!
